Change in Annual Assessment Fees
The Governing Body has voted to raise the annual membership fee to $45.00. The change began January 1, 2008. This fee covers a husband and wife and all minor children under the age of eighteen (18). Members over the age of 18 will need to pay their fee independently.
We regret the necessity of having to raise the fee but the cost of utilities, supplies, insurance, services, printing, postage and numerous other expenses that the tribe pays consistently, has made the change necessary. This is really not to bad considering that in 1978 the fee was $20.00, later changed to $25.00, then later to $35.00. The change to $45.00 is just over double in thirty (30) years. All membership fees must be in the amount of $45.00 beginning January 1, 2008.
New Roll Cards
We have designed new roll cards that have a place for your picture, blood quantum, and signature. The cost for each card is $2.00. Members will be responsible for having their pictures made and attached to the card. Once you have signed your new card you should have it laminated. Since all members do not get the Smoke Signals, please tell any member you know, family and friends about the new card.
Due to the Echotas being such a large and scattered tribe we know that it will take quite awhile for everyone to get this done. We are putting a time frame of two years for the transfer to new card to be completed. After that time the card you are carrying now will no longer be a legal Echota roll card. This effort needs to be started immediately and should be completed by September 2009.

Two dollars ($2.00) for each roll card requested
The full name to go on the card
The roll number of the card holder
Indian blood quantum (percentage of Indian blood) of the card holder
A stamped, self addressed envelope

Travel I-65, take exit 318, turn right (if coming from the south, left if coming from the north). Go past Stuckey’s and the Lacon Motel. Right past the motel is a dirt road on the right, turn there. Travel about a mile or so. After you start going up hill on the dirt road watch for the log cabin and trailer/office on the left.
